Alyria

Alyria is a world where magic is generated by a large machine deep within the earth, powered by soul sacrifices. After thousands of years the machine broke and the information on how to fix it was lost to time, so a god sacrificed his eternal soul to the machine to keep it running forever. 

The world was also split into two different halves of the globe by ancient primordial magic, causing both sides to develop independently of each other, until recently when the magic separating them was dissipated.
