House Cantell
House Cantell is a noble house that rules over the largest region of Valtoria, The Roselands. House Cantell was established after the War of the Kings, they used their expert agricultural skills to gain recognition from the king, who then appointed them to look over The Roselands, a large region of fertile farmland. Over the thousands of years they have been in charge of the Roselands, they have prospered, and their people with them. House Cantell's colors are red and white, their symbol is a rose.
The members of House Cantell are not known for their fighting skills, sometimes even ridiculed by the other noble houses for this, they are one of the few houses who did not gain their position in a war or battle. The members of House Cantell are often seen as soft and weak. The members of House Cantell however are known for their flashy fencing skills, but this is mostly as display or show, not actual combat skills.
House Cantell is closely attuned with the arts, using the massive wealth they've been able to accumulate from their prosperous region to construct grand buildings and architecture, and funding high art such as paintings, the performing arts, and other arts. The members of House Cantell are known for their bright red hair and good looks.
The current leader of House Cantell is Catherine Cantell, a highly intelligent and kind individual who has earned the respect and admiration of her people. Her leadership has been instrumental in the prosperity of the region, leading the Roselands through the tough times following the Falcon Rebellion. However, there are some who believe that she may be more ambitious than she appears, and that she is working behind the scenes to consolidate power for her family. Catherine has striking red hair and elegant features, always impeccably dressed with perfect poise. Catherine was married to a man named Phillip, with whom she had her children with, but he passed away. She later remarried to Omar Salethar.
Catherine's husband, Omar Salethar, is a skilled businessman who has no real political power within the family. It is rumored that their marriage was one of utility and mutual benefit, rather than love. Despite this, they have managed to maintain a cordial relationship and work together to further the interests of House Cantell.
Charlotte Cantell was the first born of Catherine and Phillip and the heir of House Cantell. Charlotte was born a twin, with her sister being Catrina. She was a delightfully outgoing and intelligent individual who was deeply committed to improving the lives of the peasants. She was supposed to marry Kellan Kensley, the heir to the throne of all of Valtoria, but she was in love with Malachai Masterpool. She and Malachai ran away together for some time, but eventually Charlotte decided she needed to go back to her family, and marry Kellan. Malachai was enraged by her decision and killed her in a fit of rage. Malachai was disowned by his family when the news was discovered, and Malachai has been on the run from the law ever since. The nobles often wonder what kind of golden age could have been brought upon the kingdom had she survived to be queen of Valtoria. The tragic story of Charlotte and Malachai has highlighted the importance of love and duty in a world where arranged marriages are common amongst nobility; the decision of Charlotte to fulfill her family's wishes and marry Kellan instead of marrying the one she loved led to her demise, making some people question if whether duty to your family really is the more important than personal choice.
Catrina Cantell is the second born daughter of Catherine and Phillip, and the identical twin sister to Charlotte. Unlike her outgoing and social sister, Catrina is more reserved and introverted, preferring to spend her time honing her skills in fencing and the arts. Catrina is known to be an exceptional fencer, even by the standards of other noble houses. Her training has given her a keen eye for detail and a disciplined approach to life. She is patient and meticulous, never rushing into things without first considering her options. This trait has served her well both in battle and in her personal life. Her sense of duty and loyalty to her family and people is strong, and she has a deep understanding of the responsibility that comes with being a member of a noble house. Catrina's physical appearance is striking, with her bright red hair and sharp features. She has an aristocratic bearing and carries herself with an air of confidence and poise. Her beauty is often remarked upon, but she is not one to be swayed by flattery or superficial attention. She is focused on her duties and her goals, and is not easily distracted by outside influences. She was supposed to marry Oliver Oakthorn, who she grew very close to during childhood. After her sister died, Catrina’s mother Catherine still wanted her family to marry into the royal family, so she had Catrina prove herself in the Falcon Rebellion to win the king's favor so she could take her sister's place in marrying Kellan Kensley. Catrina proved herself in the Falcon Rebellion by killing Baldur Falcon herself, and is now set to marry Kellan instead of Oliver. Some people wonder if she is happy with the change of marriage candidates, as she was very close with Oliver.
Connor Cantell is the youngest son of Catherine and Phillip, and the last of their children. Unlike his older sisters, Connor was not expected to inherit any significant position or title within House Cantell. Nevertheless, Connor has made a name for himself as a skilled musician and composer, using his family's wealth to fund his passion for the arts. Despite his lack of political power, Connor has become something of a beloved figure in the Roselands, frequently performing at local festivals and events. He has a natural talent for connecting with people and has used his music to help bring the community together. Some nobles may see Connor's pursuits as frivolous, but he has shown a knack for understanding the people of the Roselands and using his talents to uplift them. His parents are proud of his accomplishments, and Connor is content with his role as a patron of the arts and a positive influence in his community.
