The Swordspire
The Swordspire is the capital city of Valtoria, located on the eastern coast of the kingdom. It is the home of the royal family, House Kensley, who rules over the entire kingdom from the Swordspire Castle. The city was never built to be the capital city, as it was built when House Kensley were nothing more than a mere protectorate family for the then royal family, House Vallos, so it was built with a utilitarian design rather than beauty.
The city is built with sturdy materials, such as stone and iron, with simple architecture. The streets are wide and well paved, allowing for easy movements of soldiers and supplies, with combat drills often being run in the city. The Swordspire is perhaps one of the most well defended cities, with large, thick iron walls that surround the city, lined with cannons that face the sea in case of an invasion from the sea, and ballista in case of a dragon attack from the skies.
Despite the focus on military tactics, The Swordspire is still a proper city, with a large market for fish caught off the coast, and the smiths that supply the city with its everlasting demand for iron. Some of the best human smiths work in the city, making quality armor and weapons you can't get anywhere else.
The Swordspire has the busiest port in the kingdom, with many ships coming in and out every day. It is primarily used for fishing and trade, but also houses a powerful navy that protects the coast and keeps the kingdoms enemies at bay. The navy is commanded by skilled admirals who are experienced from their time served in the War of the Bare Rocks.
The city also has many taverns that have a reputation of being quite rowdy, as many soldiers visit them after a long time of being away at home and in war, but the citizens still have a strong sense of discipline and don't get nearly as rowdy as they do in the City of Avarice. Soldiers love to swap war stories with each other at the taverns.
