Serpents Rest
The people of Serpents rest are deeply connected to the desert and its traditions. They have a strong belief in the importance of family and community, and they always look out for each other. They value hard work, loyalty, and bravery above all else. The people of Serpents Rest also have a tradition of storytelling, with tales of their ancestors passed down from generation to generation. Serpents Rest is ruled by Zara of House Salethar, whose house has ruled the city since its creation.
The city of Serpents Rest is filled with bazaars, where you can find all sorts of trinkets, and a place to sell almost anything. The city itself is built in a large natural keystone archway, giving it shade from the beaming desert sun. Underground rivers flow beneath the mountain and provide the city with water. The city is perhaps the oldest in the country, being established in the Great Eastern War.
Serpents Rest is a place where almost any business can get its start. The bazaar is a great place to start, as basically anybody can just start selling anything there, there is no governing body that regulates or controls the bazaar. People can quickly make connections that will help them prosper, but there is also a high level of crime due to the lack of moderation. Larger businesses often hire people to extort smaller businesses for money, and many illegal goods are sold and bought in the bazaar. The bazaar is crowded and noisy, making crime easy to miss for the guards.
The people of Serpents Rest love chariot fighting, and use the sand dunes to the south to do so. They have tournaments frequently, and the winner gets to pick any horse from the House Salethar's stables. Due to the interest in chariot fighting, the people are also highly interested in good horses, so the best horses in the country can be found at Serpents Rest. Aisha Salethar is the reigning champion of the chariot fighting scene.
