Jackdaw

The city of Jackdaw is the only city in Bleakwater, and it's more accurately described as a fortified castle with a few buildings inside its walls. The castle, known as Bluecastle, is situated on a hill overlooking the swamps, and is surrounded by a high stone wall with watchtowers at intervals. The city is named after Hunter Haddock's ship of the same name.

Inside the walls, there are a few houses and shops, mostly catering to the needs of the soldiers who guard the castle and the Haddock family, who own the land. There's also a small marketplace where the fishermen and other locals come to sell their wares. The castle itself lies half in ruins after Dull Kullell retaliated against Hunter Haddock in the Bleakwater Rebellion.

The population of Jackdaw is around 5,000 people, with most of them being soldiers or servants of the Haddock family. The rest are mostly fishermen, who brave the dangerous swamps to catch the stinkfish that's the main source of food for the people of Bleakwater. Outside the walls of the castle, there are a few more houses and shops, but not many. The city is hardly a bustling metropolis, but rather a quiet and isolated outpost in a harsh and unforgiving land.

The people of Jackdaw have a hard life, and often dream of leaving the swampy region for a life elsewhere, but this dream is often impossible to achieve, as Bleakwater is too dangerous for a regular person to leave.
