Three Faced God

The Three Faced God is the main deity in the Valtorian continent. They are revered as the savior of the realm, as they ended the War of the Fallen Angel. The people of Valtoria don’t feel anger or hatred towards the Three Faced God for killing all the other gods, but are thankful that the war was brought to an end. Even those that still cling to their faith of the Dead Gods don’t hate the Three Faced God, but they instead see it as an unfortunate event that was probably for the greater good, as the entire continent could have ended up being destroyed by Malphas and his demons. The Three Faced God has not been seen on the mortal realms since the end of the War of the Fallen Angel.

A majority of the population worships the Three Faced God, although the level of intensity varies. Most people only say a prayer of thanks for the saving of their country every so often and leave an offering at a temple when they remember, but some are much more devoted.

Gideon Emrys is currently the lead interpreter of the Three Faced God’s will. As the God didn’t say anything before leaving after the end of the war, many religious people have tried to interpret old texts about the Three Faced God to decipher how they should live their lives. The main interpretation is balance, and karmic justice. The Three Faced God is balance, with all aspects of existence represented by the god. All bad deeds will eventually be balanced through the will of the Three Faced God, as well as good deeds.

The Three Faced God has three faces, a face on their left hand, a face on their right hand, and a face where a face normally would be. Each of the faces represent different aspects of the god.

The left hand is associated with death, decay, dexterity, cunning, and the moon. Despite the left hand being associated with some dark aspects, such as death and decay, it is not evil. After a loved one has died, a person may pray to the left hand that the deceased may find eternal rest. That is the most common reason for worship, although many criminals might pray to the left hand for the cunning and dexterity aspects. The left hand is also prayed to for the moon and night sky. Sailors who use stars for navigation or creatures of the night worship for this aspect. Exclusively praying to the left hand is rare, and there aren’t many who do so.

The right hand is associated with growth, strength, luck, life, and the sun. People worship the right hand for good harvests, for their children to grow up healthy, for the strength to vanquish their enemies, and for good fortune. Many people exclusively worship the right hand, as it has all the common person could ever need.

The face is associated with authority, justice, intelligence, honor, mercy, and the earth. The face is mostly tied to ideals, making it less popular with common people. They don’t have the time to worry about honor, authority, mercy, justice, and they really don’t need intelligence either. Anyone wearing a pendant that symbolizes the face is more likely than not some kind of noble, or at the very least, rich. The face has long been popular with kings and queens, as it represents many of the aspects that they need to rule.

While some people only worship certain aspects, most people worship all three. They recognize that the left hand symbolizes the afterlife, the right hand symbolizes life, and the face symbolizes everything in between. The Three Faced God is a balance, one aspect without the others isn’t complete. Without life, there would be no death, and without the earth, there would be no place for life and death to take place. The Three Faced God as a whole is about balance. The most common symbol for the god is a triangle with a moon at the left corner, a sun at the right corner, and the earth at the top. Sometimes the symbol is just simply a triangle.

People worship the Three Faced God by visiting a temple to give thanks or to ask them of something. If you go to ask something of the God, you must give an offering in return. A baker may leave a fresh loaf of bread, or a blacksmith may leave a weapon they’ve crafted. Gold is not allowed to be left, as gold has no meaning to the god. Priests also lead worship sessions at the temples, often relating recent events that have transpired to acts of the Three Faced God.
